So I've been using Prismacolor markers since about 10th grade and I'm (GUH.) 24 now. Before that I would practically cream when I got a shiny new pack of Crayola Super Tips in more than 10 colors. And once, my daddy even bought me 3 or 4 shitass Le Plume Art Markers, which was fucking awesome considering how broke the guy was. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not an elitist art cunt. I have a healthy respect for ghetto arting. Shit, my Prismas are so dry I have to ram a fucking viral full of 91% alcohol into the tip just to get a little more life out of 'em...
Having said that, I realize now just how much Prismacolors suck. I've outgrown them. The tips are shitty and much too big and stiff (lol, shut UP!) to do any real detailing, they bleed, the pigment does NOT last when you use them professionally and the WORST is if you use any marker with too much yellow pigment in it, it will gradually bleed yellow glow into everything around it over the next few weeks, months, years... In fact, that shit will be LESS gradual if you happen to laminate something, then it happens almost INSTANTLY. Saddest part is... I've known all this shit the entire time and I STILL bought the damn things.
Granted, Copics are fucking expensive, but when I finally realized their obvious superiority in terms of overall quality and value, it was like getting dickslapped in the eye by King Kong or some other giant hairy thing. Prismas were such a fucking waste of money! Why did I continue to buy those fucking things, even when I had the money to start converting to Copics? Idk, I'm fucking ghetto, I guess. Who cares?
ANYWAY, here's my attempt at a reasonable beginner's list of colors:
Each individual marker is $5.24 plus tax at Blick, which is the cheapest I've found them. Set's there, at the cheapest, are $62.91 for 12. There are 4 sets to choose from in this price range, but I'm not terribly keen on any of them and the one I want is a 24 set and let's just say I CAN'T FUCKING JUSTIFY SPENDING THAT MUCH ON MARKERS RIGHT NOW. So yeah...
